1. Rental Agreement

By accepting a confirmed equipment rental from Iceland Photo & Video, the renter agrees to these Rental Agreement & Terms.

The specific equipment, accessories, rental period, rental price and any applicable deposit will be identified in the renter's reservation or equipment handover record.

2. Eligibility and Identification

The renter must be at least 18 years old and may be required to present valid government-issued photographic identification before the equipment is released.

Iceland Photo & Video may decline to release equipment if the renter cannot reasonably verify their identity or satisfy the agreed rental requirements.

3. Rental Period

The rental begins at the agreed pickup time and ends at the agreed return time.

The renter must return all equipment by the agreed deadline. An extension is valid only when approved by Iceland Photo & Video before the original return deadline.

4. Rental Charges and Security Deposit

Rental charges must be paid according to the reservation confirmation provided to the renter.

A refundable security deposit of 25.000 ISK may be required before the equipment is released.

The security deposit is not a limitation of the renter's responsibility for amounts properly due under this agreement. The deposit will be returned after the equipment has been returned and inspected, less any amount properly due for missing equipment, damage, late return or other obligations under this agreement.

5. Equipment Condition

Equipment will be provided in working condition unless otherwise documented at pickup.

The renter should inspect the equipment at pickup and notify Iceland Photo & Video promptly of any existing damage or malfunction.

The condition of the equipment and included accessories may be photographed or otherwise documented at handover and return.

6. Care and Proper Use

The renter agrees to use the equipment responsibly and in accordance with the manufacturer's normal operating instructions.

The renter must take reasonable precautions against damage, theft, loss, excessive heat, impact, sand, saltwater, contamination and other foreseeable risks.

Equipment may not be sold, pledged, sub-rented or transferred to another person without prior approval.

7. Water Use

GoPro cameras may be designed for use around water, but the renter remains responsible for using the equipment correctly, including properly closing and inspecting battery doors, covers, seals and accessories before exposure to water.

Damage resulting from misuse, improperly secured doors or covers, damaged seals, excessive depth, impact or other improper use may be charged to the renter where legally permitted.

8. Damage

The renter is responsible for taking reasonable care of the equipment during the rental period.

Where equipment is damaged beyond ordinary wear during the rental period, the renter may be responsible for reasonable repair costs or, when repair is not reasonably possible, reasonable replacement costs, subject to applicable law.

Ordinary wear from proper use is not considered chargeable damage.

9. Loss, Theft and Non-Return

The renter must notify Iceland Photo & Video promptly if equipment is lost or stolen.

In the event of theft, the renter may be required to provide reasonable information concerning the circumstances and, where appropriate, a police report.

The renter may be responsible for the reasonable replacement cost of lost, stolen or unreturned equipment, subject to applicable law.

10. Missing Accessories

All equipment and accessories supplied with the rental must be returned, including batteries, memory cards, cables, cases, mounts and other listed items.

Reasonable replacement costs may be charged for missing items.

11. Late Returns

Equipment returned after the agreed return deadline may be subject to a late fee of 5.000 ISK for each started 24-hour period.

The renter may also be responsible for reasonable direct costs caused by an unauthorized late return where permitted by applicable law.

If additional time is needed, the renter should contact Iceland Photo & Video before the scheduled return time. Extensions are subject to availability.

12. Cancellations

  • Cancellation at least 48 hours before pickup: full refund of the rental charge.
  • Cancellation between 24 and 48 hours before pickup: 50% refund of the rental charge.
  • Cancellation less than 24 hours before pickup or failure to collect the equipment: rental charge is non-refundable.

If Iceland Photo & Video is unable to supply confirmed equipment, the renter will receive a full refund of amounts paid for that rental.

13. Memory Cards and Customer Data

When a memory card is supplied as part of the rental kit, it remains the property of Iceland Photo & Video unless the renter separately purchases a memory card to keep.

The renter is responsible for copying and backing up all photographs and video before returning the equipment.

Returned rental memory cards may be erased or formatted after the equipment is returned. Iceland Photo & Video is not responsible for customer files left on returned equipment or media, except where responsibility cannot legally be excluded.

14. Equipment Malfunction

If equipment appears to malfunction, the renter should stop using it where continued use could cause further damage and contact Iceland Photo & Video as soon as reasonably possible.

Iceland Photo & Video will reasonably attempt to troubleshoot the issue, provide replacement equipment when available, or determine an appropriate refund or adjustment where the equipment itself is defective.

15. Personal Responsibility and Safety

The renter is responsible for deciding where and how to use the equipment safely.

Renting equipment does not include supervision, guiding, transportation or an assessment that any location or activity is safe.

The renter should follow applicable laws, warnings, access restrictions and safety guidance while using the equipment.

Important

The 25.000 ISK security deposit is not the maximum amount a renter may be responsible for if equipment is lost, stolen, not returned or seriously damaged. Any responsibility will be determined under this agreement and applicable law.

16. Return and Inspection

The rental is not considered fully completed until all equipment has been returned and Iceland Photo & Video has had a reasonable opportunity to inspect it.

If an issue is discovered during inspection, the renter will be informed and provided with reasonable information concerning any amount claimed.

17. Icelandic Law and Consumer Rights

These terms are intended to be governed by the laws of Iceland.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any mandatory rights or remedies that a consumer has under applicable Icelandic law.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
